2018 Future Leader Update: Networking Committee

June 22, 2018

The Networking Committee has always been driven towards finding ways to bring our Future Leaders together in fun and rewarding ways and this year is no exception!  Our team has been working hard to find activities and venues that bring everyone together. We are excited about the upcoming Summer Social that will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 will be at Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Texas’ oldest craft brewery!

This event is less than a month away, and is open to all current and alumni Future Leaders. We are excited to see everyone come together for a bit of relaxed fun and networking.  We will be able to tour the brewery, sample some of their beers, and share some nibbles while catching up with other Future Leaders in the industry.

But wait, there’s more…

We are also excited to introduce a philanthropic partnership with SER Niños School by sponsoring a school supply drive. This journey will begin at the Summer Social where we will be collecting monetary donations that will be used to purchase supplies for a “Stuff a Book Sack” event to be held on September 4th, 2018 at the JW Marriott prior to the Future Leader.  Our effort will benefit the 1st grade students at SER Niños.

Our target is to donate 50 Book Sacks – doing good for the community, networking with Future Leaders, and having fun – sounds like a perfect Future Leader Program trifecta to us!

Here is the game plan on how you can get involved:

  • BRING A MONETARY DONATION TO THE SUMMER SOCIAL:
We will be collecting monetary donations that will be used to buy school supplies for the 2018-19 School Year. Everything collected will go towards the “Stuff a Book Sack” effort, so show up to St. Arnold’s ready to contribute.  If you are unable to attend the Summer Social but are interested in contributing to this effort, contact the networking committee leads (Kelly.Malone@shell.com and coreyd@performance-contractors.com) for more information.

  • PLAN TO BE A PART OF THE SEPTEMBER “STUFF A BOOK SACK” EVENT:
The Networking Committee will coordinate an event that will take place prior to the ECC Future Leader Reception on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018. Look for more information on how to sign up leading up to the September Annual Conference.

  • Learn more about SER-Niños:
SER-Niños Charter School is a public school district which provides an innovative dual language curriculum in the Gulfton area of Houston, Texas. Our mission is to offer high quality education through public and private funding to at-risk children in grades Pre-K through eight.

SER-Niños was founded on the premise that every child can develop the characteristics and abilities to overcome economic hardship and achieve success.  SER-Niños actively involves teachers, parents, and the community to ensure the strong and positive development of the whole child.

Lastly, as we look forward to the Annual Conference, we’ve been brainstorming ideas on how to have some enjoyable icebreakers at the Wednesday session.  After some feedback from the Mid-Year conference, we are keen to get you all engaged and collaborating with your fellow Future Leaders during the session.  We have partnered with the Safety Committee in this process this year!  Stay tuned for some fun and exciting opportunities to get to know your fellow Future Leaders a bit more!
