ECC Announces 2005 Achievement Award Recipient: Jim Porter, DuPont
To be presented at the 37th Annual Engineering and Construction Contracting Conference

Houston, Texas (May 17, 2005) -- The Engineering & Construction Contracting Association is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2005 ECC Achievement Award. This year's award recipient will be James B. Porter, Jr., Vice President, DuPont Safety, Health & Environment and Engineering; and Chief Engineer and will be presented at the 37th Annual Conference to be held on September 7-10, 2005, at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Award Criteria
Since 1988, the ECC has been honoring outstanding industry leaders with its annual ECC Achievement Award (formerly the ECC Division Award). Award recipients are chosen based on five criteria, including. Integrity, Bold Risk Taking, Visionary Leadership, making a lasting positive Impact on the Competitive Face of Business, and possessing Stature among their industry peers.

Award Recipient
James B. Porter, Jr., Vice President, DuPont Safety, Health & Environment and Engineering; and Chief Engineer
Jim joined DuPont in 1966 as a chemical engineer in the Engineering Service Division (ESD) field program at the Engineering Test Center in Newark, Delaware. Over almost 40 years, Jim has held various positions in many different DuPont business units and functional areas. On May 1, 1995, Jim was appointed director of operations. He also assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the DuPont Corporate Operations Network. Jim was named Vice President of Engineering on November 1, 1996 and added Operations to his area of responsibility in January, 1999. In June of 2004, Jim assumed responsibility for Safety, Health, and Environment. Jim is currently responsible for managing Engineering, Facilities, & SHE Services.

Jim has served as Chair for the CII and for Delaware's United Negro College Fund. He is a member of the Board of Directors for AIChE, FIATECH, and the Fieldbus Foundation, and sits on various industry advisory boards such as AIChE's Center for Chemical Process Safety. He is also a member of the University of Tennessee's College of Engineering Board of Advisors and the National Academy of Construction.

The 37th Annual ECC Conference
The theme for this year's conference is "Future Shock: Shaping the Future of the Capital Projects Business." The conference will focus on the transformation of the Capital Project Business and how owners, contractors and suppliers can shape our industry to ensure that it is sustainable and profitable in the future. This year's ECC Conference will be held on September 7-10, 2005, at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando FL.
